About the Event

Sunday Photography Workshop Series

Dabble in the art of experimental photography and developing

Join Jeff Sass on Sunday afternoons from 2-4pm as he walks you through a new workshop every week. Students can take the workshops one at a time or register for all four at once for a discounted price.

Week One - Cyanotypes- use the oldest emulsion process known to man to create stunning deep blue prints with solar exposure. We do this all in the darkroom- no outside time needed!

Week Two - Digital Darkroom- Email Jeff an image from your cell phone before your workshop and he'll turn it into a digial negative. You'll then get to develop and create a stunning one-of-a-kind piece of art!

Week Three - Kallitypes- Sometimes known as "the poor man's platinum print", students will use a cool silver nitrate process to create prints just a step below platinum prints. Jacoby will provide a selection of negatives or you can bring your own 5x7 or 8x10 negative.

Week Four - B&W Film Photowalk around Alton- Join expert film photographer Jeff Sass on a photowalk around downtown Alton, capturing images of our local surrounding architecture. Composition, lighting, metering, and intentional use of each shutter click will be covered. Students are responsible for providing their own film and developing.  Bring whatever camera you have or borrow one from JAC (limited number available)! Please email printsofdarkness@jacobyartscenter.org to request a camera when registering!
